SCREENING PROCESS:
In order to be considered as a potential adopter of our dogs, please complete the adoption form below. A home visit is required before dogs are placed. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee and a $695 adoption fee. Puppies will have a higher adoption fee.
The standard adoption fee includes the following veterinarian fees: neutering or spaying of dog, implanting microchip for identification, administering vaccinations, and testing for valley fever, heartworm, and other conditions. Our available dogs are in foster homes, the rescue or boarding. While the dog you adopt might not have incurred as many expenses, the adoption amount is the same and will go toward the added cost of the other dogs in rescue. Some of the dogs that come to our rescue have major medical concerns and require thousands of dollars to bring them back to health. The rescue will not recoup these costs on their adoption fee, we appreciate and thank you for your support.
The completed application must be submitted with the $25 application fee via PayPal (after you submit the application). Applications are only good for 4 months after which time a new application and fee must be submitted.

- We’ll call you for a phone interview in about 1-2 weeks (we are volunteer powered, please be patient)
- We will then arrange a home visit
- Once we have a dog we think is a good fit, we’ll arrange for you to meet him/her
- If that goes well, we will complete the adoption contract

Things to know
- We cannot contact you for an interview and home visit until we receive both your application and $25 fee. Please complete BOTH Steps 1 and 2 below. Please note that applications only remain active for 90 days.
- Weimaraners are not apartment dogs, nor should be crated for most of the day. We generally will not approve applications in those situations.
- Completing application/being contacted/interviewed/scheduled/having home visit complete does not guarantee adoption.
- AZWR reserves the right to determine the best home for the dog and also to cancel an adoption application.
- We only adopt to full time Arizona residents
- Renters must provide a letter from their landlord stating they allow Weimaraners on the property
